State Rep. Kurt Vail proudly represents the 52nd District, serving the communities of Somers, Stafford, Union, and Woodstock. First elected to the General Assembly in 2014, Kurt was re-elected to his sixth term in November 2024. He currently serves on the Veterans’ & Military Affairs, Commerce, Human Services, and Government Oversight committees.

Kurt is focused on delivering results for the communities he represents. In 2024, he helped secure state resources for the construction of a new public safety communications tower in Somers, improving critical communications infrastructure for first responders. During the 2026 legislative session, Kurt continued that work by supporting legislation to address administrative hurdles and help move the project forward.

Kurt has also been a strong advocate for Camp Woodstock, helping secure support for the camp’s expansion and working to strengthen its future as an important community institution and economic asset.

But Kurt’s commitment to the 52nd District goes well beyond the State Capitol. Before serving in the General Assembly, he served on the Stafford Board of Education, Stafford Downtown Revitalization Committee, and Recreation Commission. He has continued to give back to the community through mentoring and coaching youth sports, including the Stafford High School team.

Kurt Vail knows the communities he represents because he has spent decades working, coaching, volunteering, and raising his family in them. He is committed to keeping our communities strong, supporting local families and businesses, and making sure the 52nd District has a strong voice in Hartford.
